Acupuncture is part of Traditional Chinese medicine, an ancient medicine dating back thousands of years. It involves inserting fine needles along meridian points (corresponding to organ systems) to stimulate Qi (Chee). According to Eastern philosophies, Qi is energy that flows through the body, and when this flow is disrupted, it can translate into pain and disease.
Acupuncture has been shown to be very beneficial in many health concerns, including (but not limited to):
Muscle & joint pain, headaches, digestive disturbances, hypertension, infertility, menstrual irregularities/PMS, hormonal imbalances, sleep, anxiety, depression, as well as healing after injury.
General treatment protocols consist of 6-10 sessions of acupuncture lasting 30-45 minutes. Sterilized disposable needles of very thin width are used and inserted superficially into the skin/muscle.
